About three years ago, after getting a divorce and my youngest son's graduation from high school, I decided it was time for me to buy a home. I contacted Skeeter, since I already knew her, and told her what I was looking for and what my price range was.
We started setting up times to see houses. I also had numerous friends and family members emailing me listings and addresses of homes they thought I should see.
Skeeter had her work cut out for her. When we went to see houses, I often had my entourage with me as well to look at the houses under consideration. My three sons and two daughters-in-law were quite often with me.
Every house under consideration had to pass muster with all of us. The kids wanted to make sure that the house I chose would be in a safe neighborhood and that it was relatively free of any real problems. We saw one house that we all instantly fell in love with at first sight. The only drawback we could see was that the one bathroom in the house was only accessible through the master bedroom. Since my youngest son still lived with me, that was a potential problem but we felt we could work around it and possibly add another bathroom at his end of the house. So I made an offer and requested a home inspection.
When the inspection came back; however, things got a little trickier, so we decided to move on. All houses with mold mushrooms growing in the basement were immediately relegated to the "no way list", as were those that had housed cats or chain smokers, due to mine and my son's allergies.
During this time my youngest son and I moved in with my oldest son and daughter-in-law due to my apartment lease expiring. On we went with the house hunting. Finally after a three month hunt, we found one just a mile from my employer and not far from where my son would be attending college. After a little back-and-forth Skeeter announced it was mine. Another home inspection and all seemed well.
Obtaining a mortgage was relatively easy and before I knew it I was the very proud owner of a home of my own. Well, the bank and me, of course. I now have a place to retreat to at the end of a long day to entertain friends and/or family or to just relax with a good book. I quite often think about how lucky I am to have such a great life and such a comfortable home.
Over a three month time period Skeeter took me and my entourage to see 103 houses, probably a record for her. She hung in there and was as determined to help me find the perfect house as my kids and I were. I have a great amount of appreciation and admiration for her and the way that she helped me to make sure things got done. I hope she doesn't often have such difficult customers to deal with, but she sure came through for me and mine. We stay in touch and if I have problems or questions I know I can go to her.

It was the very first house Julie showed us. We didn't know her very well yet, although we were confident we had chosen the right realtor for us. On this day in January, we were about to find out just how well we chose our agent!!

It was a brutally cold and snowy January day, fitting for the winter we were experiencing. We dragged our 13-month old girl and 4-year old boy to look at what we were sure was going to be our new house. Once inside the house, we split into two groups to explore what turned out to be a very "unique" home with a very "unique" layout. Looking at the house quickly became a game of "where does this stairway lead to" and "where the heck am I?!" The house, which was vacant, had several bathrooms, nooks and crannies and interesting decor. Those of us in our exploration group could not even hear where the others were in the house. Until...

Jim, the leader of the boys' exploration group, found as and announced, "Uh...I think we have a problem." Where was the other member of his exploration team, our adventurous and energetic 4-year old boy? It turns out he had what we (in our family) call "an event", which is to say...a massive 4-year-old-boy's potty event! Oh, boy, what our new realtor Julie must think of us!

This was just the beginning of the situation, however. The real issue was not that the "event" had occurred. The house, as you will recall, was vacant...and the water was off in the bathroom! The toilet wouldn't flush!!! The evidence of the event (which was aromatically offensive, by the way) was there for all to see!

Julie was nonplussed. Amid all her laughter (and ours, too) she immediately tried turning on every faucet until she found one that worked--all the way across the house in the kitchen (where there was water leaking through the roof in a steady stream, might I add)! She and Jim began to use whatever they could find to fill with water and drag across the house so that they could fill the toilet until it could flush. Julie led the charge until the "big event" was a thing of the past, endearing her in our hearts forever. We had definitely chosen the right agent!!

If this was the whole story, it would speak very well of Julie and her ability to handle anyone and anything. But it's not the whole story. We found out later that on that day, Julie was in the middle of a multi-day migraine. We could never have guessed that in a million years. She is truly a professional (and a fun one, at that!).

We had been looking for a larger home while our current one was on the market. As we were returning from a relative's home one day after a family gathering, we drove by a nice looking home for sale. We called Skeeter to take a look at it. She showed it to us within a few hours. It was exactly what we were looking for. We made an offer, asked for some stiff terms & got the house. Little did we know that we would end up with neighbors who all had children the same ages of ours. We have all become good friends. Our other home was painted bright and exciting colors. Skeeter told us buyers needed to see neutralized walls. Even though we thought they would like the color palette, we did paint. Soon after that, it sold. Our experience with CBSHome and Dick Hovorka in their mortgage department was an excellent one! Thank you Skeeter and Dick for helping us move into a home that is a perfect fit for our family.

Skeeter has helped us find two homes in the past 7 years. Four years ago we moved into our current home in the depths of Quail Creek. Skeeter showed us serveral homes that were all within our requiremetns but we just were seeing what we were looking for. One day, as Kara was driving through a nearby neighborhood from her work, she feel in love with it and soon found a few homes in the neighborhood that we were interrested in. Find one we were expecially interrested in, we called Skeeter and she immediately made arrangements to be there in 30minutes to show us the house. It didn't take long for us to realize that was it. Skeeter has always gone out of her way to be available at a moment's notice and works tirelessly to find the right home for us. She continues to follow up with us years later. We consider her much more than our agent, she's really our friend and we wouldn't use any other agent when it comes to buying or selling.

Moving time is never easy, even for a seasoned Air Force wife. Two winters ago...flying solo, with the kids and husband back home, I set out for new territory....Nebraska territory. My mission...find us a house in the one weekend we could spare. When I left Louisiana to board the plane, the temperature was a comfortable 65 degrees. Just before landing, the pilot let the passengers know that the local temperature in Omaha was 15 degrees BELOW zero. I thought, "Oh no...It's 80 degrees colder?!"
"Can this be real?" It WAS true, and it was a shock to the system. So then I began thinking to myself, "I need a house fast, it's freezing (literally), and I don't know a single person here.

But when the plane landed, Brent William's sweet assistant, Kathy was there waiting for me. She made me feel a lot less worried and alone.

Shortly thereafter, I met Brent Williams. His kindess and expertise was a blessing! I let him know that I needed to secure a house.....and fast. Brent wasn't worried a bit. He made sure he knew all of our "needs" and "wants" thoroughly. For example, one of the things I told him was that I needed a room set apart for homeschooling our children. In each house we looked at, he made sure he asked me if I would be able to teach the kids there. By him asking me those types of detailed questions, I could tell he genuinely cared about our family! Brent DID find our family "the perfect house" that weekend; and I've been happily homeschooling the kids there ever since.

A very wise Air Force wife once told me that when you move, you don't move to new places, you move to new people.

She was right. After working with Brent Williams and his team, I knew our family had already made some new friends in Nebraska.

Now when the weather's cold.....I just stay inside my wonderful WARM house....lol!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Skeeter was amazing, outstanding and went way above her job expections when listing our house. We moved to Kansas City and Skeeter held Open Houses for us and even shoveled snow and ice for us to clear our driveway. She also kept the house dusted and cleaned windows. No one could have a better present that the work she did for our family! Thank you Skeeter!

Erin helped us find our first house 7 years ago.....a house that we only planned on living in for a couple of years. Due to numerous changes in our lives, Erin was subjected to househunting with us for several years before the sun & moon aligned and we were actually ready to buy again.

Like many of our previous conversations, I told her that I had a few houses that I wanted to look at. I can almost see her rolling her eyes, thinking that this wasn't going anywhere, again.... She humored me, set up the appointmments and carted us around town to see the houses. After 2 days of looking, we narrowed down our choices to 2 and decided to put in an offer. At 11pm on a Sunday.

As we negotiated the contract process is became evident that we would not be closing until a day later than antipipated due to circomstances beyond the control of Erin or the title agent....we were kept informed and they both went out of their way to move the process along while trying to ensure our sanity. I am confident that due to her persistance, our closing went as smoothly as possible.

We love our new home and couldn't be happier! Thanks, Erin!

Skeeter Gurzick, my parents house agent, was someone that was worth remembering. I was five years old when my parents purchased the house that I am living in today, and even at this very moment, there are still things that Skeeter gave to us that we cherish.
Obviously, being five years old at the time, I don’t have extremely vivid memories about Skeeter, or anything for that matter! But my mother tells me that Skeeter was a kind person that wasn’t trying to just sell a house and forget that was a person all together. Skeeter is a person who would give up her time, and even her some of her pocket money in one event, for her clients so that they would remember her the same way she remembers them.
On perhaps the hundredth time we went house hunting, Skeeter picked us up in her car to take us all the way to the Westin Hills neighborhood, which from the UNMC area, is pretty darn far! After three or four hours of searching, I declared that I was starving, and began to whine and fuss about everything. My mother scolded me for whining, and told me to wait and be patient until we got home so we could have lunch. But I was persistent, and kept fussing and whining. Then, Skeeter said, “Why don’t I treat Noah? How does McDonald’s sound Noah?” in an attempt to help the situation. I was all for it, but my parents were stunned from how much she was committed to helping us. Skeeter wouldn’t take no for an answer, and on that day, I was treated to McDonald’s.
Another time that Skeeter has portrayed her kindness to our family was when she personally painted our house for us. She gave this to us as both a house warming gift, and as a Christmas gift, about one year after we moved into our newly bought house. We still have that house warming/Christmas present in our dining room area.
Living in the house I am living in today, I know that Skeeter took time to match us with a house of our needs. My father was interested in a house that had children nearby so that I could have plenty of friends to play with. My mother was looking for a house that . Because of Skeeter’s ability to foresee our needs, we were able to find and live in a wonderful house, surrounded by friends, many who live close by. My father’s plan on life was to live in this house for a maximum of four years, but, with such a great neighborhood, and just wonderful house, he couldn’t leave, and we’ve been living here for seven and now approaching eight years.

Skeeter is a very nice and caring person as you can see. She isn’t like any of the other house realtors, because, even after she sells a house, she remembers us, and that means something to my family, and surely many other families whom Skeeter has worked with. Thank you Skeeter.

In 1999 my husband and I decided that we would start to look for a new home. Our agent took me out on Mothers Day and we found the perfect home. We made an offer. It was accepted. Our neighbors of 8 years came over one evening to tell us that they had made an offer on a new home and would be moving. Where we asked? It was one block from our new home so we were lucky enough to have them for neighbors for the next ten years.
Ten years passed and again on Mothers Day we purchased another home with our agent. So we have a standing date that every 10 years on Mothers Day we go looking at homes.

I've known Pete Jenkins since I was 14. After many years, we reconnected while participating in a local music event. I casually mentioned to him that my husband and I would soon be looking to purchase a our first home. He gave me his card and told me to give him a call once we were ready, which we did. Pete was VERY knowledgeable about the Omaha market, and made what +WE+ wanted in a home his number one priority. He sent us e-mails about potential homes almost daily and let us decide which homes to put on our list. We spent an entire Saturday (in his car and at HIS expense) driving around the city looking for that perfect place. Once we found it, Pete skillfully guided us through the entire offer and closing process and even offered to buy us a basketball hoop for the front yard! To this day, Pete continues to prove to us that he is a true professional. Although seven years have gone by, he still checks in with us from time to time to see how we are doing and find out what improvements we've made. We appreciate how much makes us feel like part of the CBS family and couldn't imagine working with anyone else!
